Feeding the Google Beast and Oiling the Blogging Wheel
How to Get Links to Your Posts
Why Your Posts Aren’t Getting Read
Still not getting traffic to your posts?
It’s no surprise. Because no matter what you do, or where you go, other people have already been there, done that. With over 7.5 billion people in the world, there is nothing — absolutely nothing — that’s not been seen or written about or talked about by someone at some time or other.
So, your job as a writer isn’t to just talk about what you want to talk about and expect to be noticed. Your job is to write something that captures other’s interest.
For instance, writing about how to profit from searchers intent .
And saying it in a way that jolts readers out of their pajamas and gets them to put on their best. Simply because they realize that someone — you — are saying something that can have a tremendous impact on the rest of their lives.
In other words, as Jon Morrow, founder of SmartBlogger.com says, you must ask yourself, “Is this article better than any post ever published about this topic?”
He explains, “If the answer is no, the content is worthless.”
And that harsh reality often makes you want to throw up. Makes you think you should barf up any thought of writing, get it out of your system completely. And move onto something more healthy. And more profitable.
But wait!
Don’t Ignore the Beast!
Don’t ignore the beast. For that beast needs to be oiled. And fed. By you!
For the whole truth is, you can write something that is worthwhile. Something that other people will read. Something other people will love.
Something other people will talk about, and even share …
When you Oil that blogging wheel of Google’s beast.
When you use the right kind of oil to ensure that blogging wheel runs smoothly and doesn’t start screeching and squealing, “you’re an imposter.”
And the right kind of oil is your offering important lessons for readers to glean and takeaway from your articles. Important lessons that create the oil used by Google to feed their beast. Namely the OIL called Organic Incoming Links.
Links that Satiate Google’s Ravenous Beast
Morrow explains further in his SEO program, “An incoming link (or inbound link) is a link on someone else’s site or blog that directs readers back to your site. Incoming links are the most important factor in your search engine rankings, and if you optimize before you get them, you’re putting the cart before the horse”.
For, according to Morrow, you need to write content that other people are linking to, thereby feeding the ravenous Google beast … before you even think about optimizing your articles for search engines.
In other words, says Morrow, first your writing must be “gaining popularity and picking up lots of organic incoming links.”
And you do that by feeding the Google beast with the best ever articles. Articles that, as Isay in one article, satisfy the thirsty. That sound the trumpets. That steal the thunder.
In other words, instead of merely cranking out as many posts as you can think of, choose quality over quantity.
For Google cares about one very specific thing, says Morrow: “the number of quality, no-tricks-involved links pointing to your blog from high-authority sites.”
Feeding the Beast the Best Content
But, instead of becoming a link-chasing beast yourself, you must be chaste and proper in your tactics. To tame the Google beast, feed that beast with content that it hungers for. Feed it the best content. Desirable content that drives the beast deliriously wild, like catnip does to a cat.
Feed the beast content that fascinates, that arouses, that connects with others insatiable desires to have more. Content that attracts connections to high authority sites, which then translates into their endorsement.
Because that transfers their authority to you.
And it takes time to make those high-quality connections. For it takes great writing skill to create ‘top-notch content,’ content that attracts links from high authority sites.
What is High-Quality Content?
Writing a high-quality post means you know what’s already out there. So, you type in the keyword phrase you are targeting in a Google search. And then you read the top 5 to 10 posts Google recommends.
And as you read, you strive to figure out what points haven’t been covered yet. For it takes some research and some serious thought to discover what’s missing, or what hasn’t been deeply discussed yet.
As well as finding different ways to explain something so reader’s who have heard what’s been said, but didn’t get it, now begin to understand what they’re doing wrong. And what to do instead.
Because people often hear the same advice over and over again, but it doesn’t register. So, they keep repeating the same mistakes. Until …
they read your high-quality content. And something you’ve said clicks in their mind. And they suddenly see clearly what’s been foggy until now.
For the mist of misperception is often so thick that it takes repeated visits to get a clear picture of what’s really happening.
That Wow! What a Buzz Experience
But when you finally see the truth, it’s a WOW! experience, a wordsmith’s observations wakening you.
Then, upon wakening from your sleep-walk through life, you can really begin to accomplish something worthwhile. For you’ve learned something important that needs to be discussed in depth.
And you make the effort to find the right words to communicate exactly what you mean. You work hard to say what you have to say in a way that conveys your excitement to those who are interested enough to really listen.
And your excitement flows freely out into the world and gets other people talking about you. And what you said. Thus, you create a buzz in the world that’s as loud as a bee spreading pollen on a perfect summer day.
Keep Feeding the Beast High-Quality Fodder
And then, the one big problem you’ll have after that is, how do I stay awake instead of letting myself fall back in that semi-conscious stupor?
And your stiving to answer that question should keep you awake long enough to read more high-quality posts about something that has been bothering you and keeping you awake at night.
Therefore, you get another awe-inspiring insight that frees your mind enough to sleep on it … and then you awaken with even more worthy ideas to write about in the morning.
Consequently, your awakening then awakens and feeds the beast with more high quality writing that inspires clicks and evokes reads from people who appreciate and value what you have written …
And as you keep feeding the ravenous Google beast what it craves … you too are fed. You feed on plenty of high-quality, trust-building links.
Sure, it may take some time. But what else have you got to do with your time that could be as rewarding? What could be as exciting as feeding on luscious, lucrative, high-quality fodder?
All because you’re developing your skills and abilities to become the best writer you can possibly be.
