What Big Companies Really Want

Sunday was my oldest grandson’s 8th birthday. We had burgers and cake. It was his second birthday party. His scheduled party was at the Williston Arc where the kids all went swimming first. They all had fun and he got some nice gifts.

Especially a Gizmo where we could talk to each other by phone. And when I went home Sunday, I had my fill of two different kinds of cake.

I love cake. Almost as much as I love writing. I especially love the kind of cake that writing will help me afford to buy … when I start earning big bucks as a freelance writer.

According to Jon Morrow at smartblogger.com, freelance writing is a $412.88 billion — yes billion — opportunity. For companies willingly — and eagerly — pay writers who can supply them with enough customers to enable them to buy all the cake they could ever desire.

How To Earn Your Cake And Eat It To

And to do that, to earn your cake as a freelance writer, so you, too, can eat all the cake you want, Jon gives some wise advice. He says as a freelance writer, your words “need to resonate with the emotions of the reader. The better you get at keeping readers emotionally engaged, the more shares you will get on your content, and you’ll be able to charge more.”

So, how do you do that?

You realize that it’s a matter of making a CAKE. It’s a matter of being clear about the kind of cake you are making. For clarity astounds by kindling emotions.

Thus, you must clarify everything you say. Don’t be vague and say the cake was amazingly good. Instead, give exact details. Say I love the sweet taste of vanilla and sugar as the cake melts in my mouth. The frosting slides between my lips and lingers on my tongue, then quickly bursts into the joyous dance of my taste buds, shocking my brain with its sweetness.

Those details hook readers. They capture readers emotionally.

The Magic Of Details

Specific details are what creates the magic.

As Barbara Baig says in Spellbinding Sentences, “Clear communication is a kind of successful magic. When we write with clarity, we transfer meaning into the minds of other people … But our words and sentences make another kind of magic, too, which gives them even more power: They make things happen; they do things to people.”

For clear, detailed writing puts pictures in the reader’s mind. Clear writing tells stories. It arouses people’s desires and longings. It urges people to do things. And most especially, it gets people to think.

Your words get people to dream. To imagine things. And what they imagine is all in your hands. It all depends on you. And the words you choose. You hold the key to what goes on in the minds of your readers. You are their dream maker.

You are their mind bender. You keep your readers on the edge between reality and all they ever dreamed of. You keep them interested and invested in the world you create for them.

Your words mesmerize. Your words amaze. Your words possess. You own their very souls. Simply because you give your readers something they couldn’t get for themselves.

Making Your Readers Emotional About Cake

You give readers a lucid emotional experience. You make bring out their emotional desire, their hunger for cake.

All because you give them hope. You give them love. You give them a better life than they ever thought possible.

You give them their dreams.

When all seems lost, your words have the power to restore things back to normal.

When all seems dark, your words turn the light back on.

When they feel sad and depressed, your words turn things around, turn their frowns right-side up.

All because you decide to give them a big piece of your CAKE … you choose to acknowledge kaleidoscopic emotions.

Making Readers Hungry For Cake

You captivate your readers in a way they hunger for. You say something in a way that makes readers even more hungry to hear more.

Because your words are as succulent as a piece of cake.

What you say urges them to take a bite, to taste your cake. For you’ve turned on the heat and put the cake in the oven in their hearts. And they begin to smell that sweet aroma that makes their mouths water. That sweet scent makes them drool as their hunger pains grow stronger.

With each breath they take, with each word they read, the scent becomes stronger as it arouses their desire to the point of urgency. They can’t help themselves. They have to have it. They have to have more.

So they keep reading.

And with each word, their mouths foam with delight as their tongues dance along with the words you speak. Their lips are frosting bitten as they lick up every idea they read. For you woo their minds with the wonder of sweetness that they crave, with the wonder of words that are clear and dear to them.

Conversion By Cake

So, it’s tempting to the last bite. All because they taste your cake with the CHERRY on top … taste your content that’s hypnotic by emotionally resonating with your reader’s yearnings.

Simply put, your writing is a SUCCESS because you start using content to convert as you emotionally sway subscribers. In fact, you start to urgently create content that elicits a surge of subscribers.

For the words you write are the content that companies need so much that they willingly … and eagerly … pay you — yes, you — to write for their blogs and their magazines. They use your content, your words, as their connection to their subscribers and customers.

Your content is the key to your life of eating all the cake you could ever want. And all you have to do is write content that make readers, subscribers, and customers mouth’s drool as they read your words.

The Magic Of Cake

There’s magic in cake. All you have to do to magically captivate your readers is give them the taste of cake with every piece you write. Then companies who invest in content that helps them afford their cake will come looking for your as their word bakery.

Companies will come looking for your kind of cake.
